Mikayla graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structures, from SD Mines in December of 2021. During her time in college, she gained work experience in architectural and structural design. She frequently uses 3D analysis software to aid in design and has experience working with Revit drafting software.
Community involvement is important to Mikayla as reflected in her volunteer work with Girl Scouts of America, working to expose and excite girls about STEM at an early age.
In her spare time, Mikayla enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and dog, reading books, watching movies, exploring the Sioux City area, and always looking for the next adventure.
Why did you choose your profession?
Mikayla has always been interested in Structural Engineering from a young age. As she grew older, her interest grew exponentially, and out of the multitude of different career options she always came back to wanting to be an engineer. Mikayla also strives to inspire and promote women in STEM, along with encouraging early exposure to all the different possibilities STEM can offer.
